FWC: Hollywood woman who washed ashore was struck by a boat

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said 31-year-old Kellie Melinda Williams, who lived in Hollywood, had injuries consistent with a vessel strike after her body washed ashore at Hollywood Beach near New Mexico Street on Wednesday night. Two fishermen spotted her in the surf and called authorities. Hollywood Police said it appeared Williams had been snorkeling or diving earlier that day near Dr. Von D Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park when a watercraft struck her head. Williams was recently married and worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines; her family described her as an accomplished snorkeler who had recently moved to South Florida from California. The case remains under investigation, and investigators are asking anyone who saw what happened to come forward. Tips can go to the FWC at 888-404-FWCC or to Hollywood Police at 954-764-4357.
